Notes of Interest (at least they are interesting to me)

1. First off, congratulations to the George Mason University men's basketball team for making it to the NCAA Final Four. Though they destroyed my bracket by beating North Carolina, I can't help but root for a team that nobody even gave a chance. I admire their tenacity, their skill, their heart but what I really admire is that their university has the same name as one of my favorite characters from seasons 1 and 2 of 24. Just like this upstart basketball team, nobody gave George Mason a second look. Yet, as grizzled, frumpy and irritable as he was, he went about his duties as the head of CTU with the same spirit that drove this team into greatness. I am so glad that the board of trustees of this school decided to take a chance and honor this fictional character by changing the name of their school. (As I hear it, they were previously called the Sam Beckett Quantum Leapers preceded by a stint as Cliff Huxtable University in the mid 80's)

If you were going to name a university after a fictional character, who would it be and what would the mascot be?

2. I have gotten addicted to looking at my site meter to see who has been visiting my blog. I also love seeing hos people get to my blog. Yesterday I found my favorite so far. Somebody in Washington found this site after doing a Yahoo search for "skinhead crucified wallpaper". I cannot explain the amount of pride that I have that my blog is what came up with those words.

3. On my new diet I have gotten into eating instant oatmeal for breakfast. Today I tried a new brand and it tasted exactly like ground up popcorn kernels. I think I'll go back to my Quaker Oats Lower Sugar Maple and Brown Sugar which is only 2 Weight Watcher points.

Have a great day.

I am so sorry the new kind tasted bad. I guess I won't be buying that anymore.

It's a little daunting to post on your blog because the average person is narry as creative as you. That being said, my fictional university would be named "Rachel Ray's 30 minute degree." (from the Food Network for all of you who are missing out in life). Mascot- the whirling dervish.

So Spruce are you doing WW? How's the progress? We REALLY missed you this weekend. Your absence was noted in the ACU gang- and on stage when A Capella got up to sing. I always thought you missed your calling.

Please do not be "daunted". Anyone can post on this blog. In fact, if nobody posted I don't think I would like doing it anymore.

I am doing WW. It is going well I have lost somewhere in the realm of 20-25 lbs. It is a good start.

And finally, I was a member of Acapella at one point but they kicked me out after one concert in which I used a kazoo. I argued that the instrument was actually powered by my voice but they couldn't believe that a noise that heavenly could come out of human vocal chords. So, I was dishonorably discharged and subsequently excommunicated.

Ah, that kazoo. A Capella's got it all wrong. Way to go on the WW! I honestly NOTICED the great results in your vacation pics on Jacquie's blog. You guys look H-O-T!

You crack me up Spruce- congrats on your WW success so far! (I agree that oatmeal sometimes tastes like ground up kernels). Once again, last night's 24 episode was sooooooooo good.

I am about 1/100th as creative as you and Shanta, thus I do not have a fictional university name and mascot. But since George Mason is about 20 miles from us, I will definitely be rooting for them this weekend....go Patriots!

Hmm. . . perhaps the "Ed Chigliak Grizzlies" or the "Laura Ingalls fightin' Sunflowers" or even "Mr. T Gold Diggers" would be University worthy.

I'm spending the day with your momma tomorrow. (I know you're thinking of a 1000 your momma comback jokes right now) But seriously, I am. I'm excited to see her.

Missed you in Tulza.

Well lookie who it is. Hanstevens, it is great to hear from you. I spent a lot of time praying for you last year after your ski accident. It is great to hear from you. It was great to find your blog.

Ditto Spruce! If you ever need an extended leave of absence from work, snow skiing into the trees worked for me... add it to your adventure list! Thanks for all those prayers though, big time. They all worked!...i think... :)

Peter Griffin College for Motivationally Challenged--
This school specializes in the trades and provides the ADD community an alternative to the rigerous demands of homework and minmum to moderate expectations of most of your higher education centers in America. Students must have an SAT score of 1060 OR LESS in order to attend this school. There is no school mascot due to the fact that nobody seems to be able to find the keys to the closet where the mascot costume is kept. Job placement is available for students though not recommended! Tuition is also negligible due to the fact that the accounting department tends to forget to pick up the mail!

My word is "lksegax"- I was pleasently surprised when this word popped up-- I'm probably dating myself when I tell you I haven't seen this word since like the fifth grade!! This is the elemantary school code word for any word your not suppose to know at age 10!

Haha! I assure you I did not come across your blog page by googling anything about skinhead wallpaper! In fact, it was Weese who passed along the link to your page. I now periodically visit it for uplifting insight and a good chuckle! Keep it up!

The fictional university of choice would have to be "MacGyver University." And the cool thing about it is that the mascot could be anything--a swiss army knife, an empty milk jug, a blob of play-do, etc.--and the crowds would go wild!

Not true, Nikki. You simply must keep blogging. The fate of the entire Western world depends on it. And maybe even the Eastern world.
